Nero has two major combat mechanics - Exceed and the Devil Bringer. After acquiring a new mechanical prosthetic from his equipment supplier, a woman named Nico, the pair venture into Red Grave City to combat the spread of the first demon invasion in years, and the demonic tree at the center of it all. Now with a shorter haircut, Nero loses his Devil Bringer which contained most of his demonic power, and has Yamato stolen from him after his arm is severed by one of the new antagonists in the lead up to the game. He returns as one of the protagonists of Devil May Cry 5. His weapons of choice are Red Queen, a custom single-edged messer, a double-barreled revolver called the Blue Rose, and a Japanese sword of Sparda's discovered in Agnus' underground lab (later given to him as a gift for good by Dante) named Yamato. His pets Shadow and Griffon can’t actually kill enemies, so you need to get in for the finishing blow as V once enough damage has been dealt. ![]() The only combat attack that V himself can pull off is a swift blow with his cane, used with the Finishing Blow button. Using Break Away actually explodes the Devil Breaker arm in one final attack, and you can use this when you’re surrounded or overcome by enemies, but at the cost of one of Nero’s devil arms. This could be bounding around the battlefield with Gerbera, or unleashing a fiery attack with Punchline. The Devil Breaker attack uses the core function of the arm you currently have equipped for Nero. There are many different variations of Devil Breaker that you can obtain for Nero, but they all follow the same fundamental control scheme.
